Keeping dogs mentally stimulated is of primary importance. Using their nose, their brain, making them think is as tiring as physical exercise. And a good way to do that is using a sniffer mat! A nice long walk with lots of sniffing plus a few minutes of play with the sniffer mat helps me keep her engaged and gets her tired out so that she doesn't get into mischief once I head out for work.
